Darjeeling Kitchen & Café | Our Story
From Darjeeling to Queens, with love
Darjeeling Kitchen & Café is a first-generation, women-owned family business that proudly showcases their hometown of Darjeeling, India. The food here comes from the people who made it, and every dish carries that story.
The family kitchen
Tsering, Phuchanki, and Tashi built this place together — a family who brought their traditions from Darjeeling to a small café in Queens.
Recipes from Darjeeling
Every dish on the menu is a generational recipe — nothing from a cookbook, just the food this family has always cooked at home.
Halal momos and more
The momos — steamed, pan-fried, or in jhol broth — are what many guests come for first, and The New York Times took note of the café's halal take on them. There's also thukpa, thali, and dishes that reflect the full range of Himalayan comfort food.
A table in Queens
With just 12 tables, this is an intimate place — warm walls, Darjeeling artwork, and the kind of welcome that makes regulars out of first-time visitors. As Tsering said it best: we hope you find a piece of home here too.
